Today was Ben's memorial service. It was incredibly sad. Sad that such a vibrant young man died from a stupid choice he made. There must have been 200 people there. Mostly young people, and everyone loved Ben. He really was something special. Always smiling and would do anything for anyone.I think it is really going to hit Kristin hard when she really needs someone. He was her "go to" guy. He would drop anything if she needed him. He even drove all the way to Flagstaff to pick her up last year because she was bored and didn't want to stay another night with us. 2 of his buddies got up to speak, and both said that they hope all the kids there take something from Ben's death, and stop doing the stupid things (drugs) that they are doing. I was really happy to hear that. Kristin also got up to speak. That was so hard for her but she did a great job. She spoke about the long relationship they had, how they use to leave notes taped under a desk in school for each other, how she spray painted his car, and how they were such good friends even after they broke up.
He will be missed by so many. I hope his friends take heed and stop doing something that took one of them so young.
